President

What do you like most about VSA?

The ability to achieve great things with such a small group of people! And the best thing is, through all the ups and downs, you come out as a family.

What would you like to achieve this year?

Our vision this year has 3 main branches:

  • To have a greater presence on campus
  • To focus more on student development within the committee
  • To increase the value of a VSA membership at UNSW

Above all this, I want to ensure that UNSW’s Executive team and Public Relation Officers enjoy their VSA experience and that I can help facilitate this.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

I like stationery, watches, @drakeoncake account on Instagram and Google image-ing Santorini.

What do you like most about VSA?

VSA is such a great society, in that it truly lets us grow and develop as individuals whilst having great social interactions at the same time. But, the thing I love most about VSA has to be the family vibe that you feel not only within your own committee, but between all the committees as well. Everyone is always so lovely and welcoming and the banter is a solid 20/10!

What would you like to achieve this year?

This year I would really like to focus upon developing the members within my committee so that they are able to look back on the past year and feel as though they gained something valuable from it.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

I’m an extremely heavy procrastinator and will always be late to everything.

External Vice President

What do you like most about VSA?

I like VSA because of what it has offered to me, not only in terms of my development but how it has increased by social circle exponentially. Never have I come across some interesting and kind characters to work and professionally develop myself with. The number one thing with VSA is that you’re never in it alone, whether it’ll be the good times or the bad, you always seem to come through with people on either side of you.

What would you like to achieve this year?

I would love to achieve a greater connection between our VSA members and the VSA committees themselves. I want to help provide our members with more opportunities to meet and talk to us on campus and allow for them to see VSA for more than what we’re perceived to be at the moment.
I also want to provide them with more benefits, in tandem, broaden VSA’s reach to connect our members with opportunities beyond university life.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

There is nothing really interesting about me. Some facts about me is that I can have some pretty dark humour at times. That is all.
Nah just kidding, I love to have a laugh at everything and try make everything as light as possible. I am not sure if I have any pet peeves to be honest, everything can be annoying if you’re exposed to too much of it.
One message to pass on: Take every opportunity with both hands, even if you don’t like it, you can let it go. At the very least, you were able to experience it and at the very most, it can be something you’ll thoroughly enjoy.

Treasurer

What do you like most about VSA?

VSA spans so far that I’m always making new friends at every VSA event that I go to. I like the people, the energy and the work that we do. UNSW’s President is pretty cool too.

What would you like to achieve this year?

As treasurer, I hope to think of new and fresh ideas that will allow the team to execute great events on a minimum budget. I want to see our members satisfied with the events we’re bringing out but I also want to implement strategies to cut our costs in order to have more events in the long run.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

These curls are all natural, baby.

Julie Vu

Secretary

What do you like most about VSA?

I love that VSA is so inclusive – everyone is very friendly and expanded my social circle. Being exposed to various VSA events has allowed me to extend my network and enabled me to form close friendships with people from other unis! We are so willing to help others during events, regardless of whatever uni we’re from – VSA is definitely a close knit family!

What would you like to achieve this year?

  • To improve management within our committee, in hopes of seeing more successful and streamlined events come into fruition.
  • Be more involved in the VSA community, where my skills outside the secretarial role can be developed.
  • Further network and make new friends with VSA members across NSW and other states.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

  • I think I have this certain aura, where cats run to me and snuggle when I see them along the streets. My future as #crazy #cat #lady is definite
  • I used to collect spiders when I was younger- I developed an unconditional love for tarantulas as a result. Not anymore- spiders scare me now.
  • I suck at double negatives

What do you like most about VSA?

To be able to meet individuals that share the same passion for the Vietnamese heritage and culture.

What would you like to achieve this year?

I would like to achieve a Distinction WAM and execute the ideas of VSA at UNSW committee for the betterment of its members.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

I love banter and clever, witty and punny jokes!
