University of Sydney (Main)

Gary Le

President

What do you like most about VSA?

I like how VSA creates a family atmosphere, where everyone, whether it is inter-university or interstate, is friendly and welcoming.

What would you like to achieve this year?

My goal for VSA this year revolves around 3 main concepts:

  • Growth
  • Expansion
  • Development

This year, I would like to see VSA USYD grow internally and become a stronger committee that can give back further to our general members.
Additionally with a strong committee, I would like to see VSA USYD’s committee expand and help other universities. Expansion also revolves around expanding our presence within the University of Sydney by having weekly events.
Additionally, development is another major goal because development within VSA USYD will create a more sustainable VSA USYD in the future, hence allowing VSA USYD’s future generations to carry out bigger and better events.

Anything interesting you would like to share?

Just a little quote from Sir Winston Churchill:
“A man does what he must, in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles, dangers and pressures.”

The sense of community and family from the team and also being able to develop my skills and attend heaps of fun and rewarding events.

What would you like to achieve this year?

As a treasurer, I’m accountable to all of VSA’s finances therefore this year I want to be organised and chase up details about all the income and expenses incurred. I also want to develop an efficient recording and reimbursing process for events.

The opportunity to make friendships! When you join the committee, you’re working with the same team for at least a year and the many social events that VSA holds means that you become close very quickly 🙂

Since it’s my last year, I hope to take advantage of the many opportunities that are available and participate/volunteer more.

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan!
