University of Sydney (Main)

Gabrielle Tran

President

What’s the best thing about VSA and why?

The best thing about VSA is probably the people that make up the society. I have met many amazing people throughout my time in VSA including making new friends that eventually turned into family. These people have not only helped me develop myself personally but have also provided me with love and support throughout my time in VSA.

What are you goals this year for VSA?

My goals include helping the USYD team grow to be bigger and better and helping my PRS to develop personally. I also hope to improve the VSA relations across all universities in order to increase the awareness of VSA.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

Catherine Pham

Internal Vice President

What’s the best thing about VSA and why?

Everything about VSA is the best! Whether that would be forming new friendships, creating unforgettable memories and volunteering for the community. However, the best thing about VSA is the unity of family. Why? Because family is something we hold onto so deeply and I have held onto VSA for a while now and it’s honestly the best thing about joining a university society. They say blood is thicker than water and VSA, is definitely thicker than water.

What are you goals this year for VSA?

My goals for this year is to focus on an environment for my team to be comfortable where they can share their deepest and darkest secrets, see each other more than just the surface and to create remarkable memories.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

I have a fascination with eyebrows.

Andy Truong

External Vice President

What’s the best thing about VSA and why?

For me the best thing about VSA is the amount of opportunities that are given to help you grow as a person, whether it’d be socially or professionally. Such opportunities can be seen through volunteering with the Faifield City Council, project heading large events, liaising with external parties, achieving a leadership role within VSA and many more. All of which has built me up to the person I am today and I am very grateful for that.

What are you goals this year for VSA?

My goals for this year in VSA include improving the Inter-University Council relations. As an External Vice President you will be engaging with other VSA teams from different campuses such as UNSW, UTS, WSU and MACQ, and it is important to me that relations with USYD and others are strong. Additionally, I’ve also set myself the goal of becoming a better leader than I was yesterday and that in itself is a challenge that I will be constantly tackling during my time in VSA.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

An interesting fact about myself is that I’m allergic to dogs but that doesn’t stop me from petting them amirite??

Vivian Tran

Treasurer

What’s the best thing about VSA and why?

The best thing about VSA is constantly meeting new people and making friends. Being in VSA really feels like you are a part of a large extended family. During my time in VSA, I have met so many people I wouldn’t have otherwise met and have developed strong friendships. Joining VSA has been such an enjoyable experience and I would recommend everyone to join because it is something you will never regret.

What are you goals this year for VSA?

This year I aim to ensure we provide events every week to the satisfaction of our members. This will increase our reputation and further expose the VSA name amongst students. I also aim to develop a stronger bond with each member in my committee.

Anything interesting about yourself that you would like to share?

I am one of those people that know the words to almost every song and will sing whenever a song comes on.
